This page is dedicated to Ranger and all the ponies that will follow
him. Ranger is a very special pony who was given to us from Gidget
for the sole purpose of taking care of him for his remaining years.
We will update this page with stories of Ranger and pictures as the
years progress. Ranger arrived at Paint My Day on Tuesday Jan 15,
2008. PMD wishes to thank Gidget for her compassion and the excellent care she
gave Ranger upon finding him at the FVA and recognizing him. We
have every confidence that she made the right choice is choosing us to
provide for Ranger's needs.
Jan. 16th. Ranger continues to settle in. Elizabeth took
him carrots today and gave him a special hug sent from Gidget.
April 11th 2008
Ranger is doing so well. He has started to shed out and loves
his daily scratches and visits. We are looking forward to seeing
his summer coat under all his winter woollies. Ranger is a Kampman
favourite!
This is Ranger's pal Elizabeth. She spends time learning how to
groom with her big sis Ash. Who also takes her for the occasional
walk and Ranger enjoys those short infrequent trips! AJ,
Elizabeth's one and only brother enjoys a short walk on Ranger with his
big sis Ash carefully watching.

Well shedding season is well on its way! Today Ranger had his
shots and was a super boy about it. We are considering taking
Ranger into the University to have his knee x rayed to see if there is
anything we can do for him.
After turning him out for six weeks or so with the other younger
spunkier boys it has been our decision and Rangers preference to have a
coral all to his lonesome. He is very low on the totem pole and
does not like the other boys and is somewhat timid. Fine by us!
June 2008- After watching Ranger and having our vet out to
access him we made the difficult decision to have Ranger laid to rest.
We had blood work done to determine cause of why it was taking so long
for him to shed out and why weight gain was just not happening despite
and excellent diet. Ranger was in the early stages of kidney
failure and it was a high probability that he had cushing. Coupled
with his badly arthitic knee and a long discussion with our vet I
decided I could not bear to watch Ranger waste away to nothing.
Underneath all that slowly shedding hair was a very tiny boy who was not
getting better in health but worse.
We thought we would have years and it was a hard thing to have to do
but the right thing. RIP Ranger and may you enjoy greener
pastures. :0)
